Arsenal's goalkeeper Backs Squad Depth as Vital to Silverware Challenge

The Spanish shot-stopper has declared that fierce rivalry for first-team spots is driving Arsenal's outstanding run, with the keeper asserting that the squad's depth under Mikel Arteta is so incredible that they can contend for various titles this season.

Dominant Victories Showcase Arsenal's Prowess

The North London club's recent 4-0 triumph over Atlético Madrid marked their six consecutive wins and tenth triumph in a dozen games. With only three goals conceded—a record low at this point in the team's legacy—Arsenal have established a one-point lead at the top of the table and a perfect record in the European competition after three outings.

Rotation and Versatility Crucial to Success

The goalkeeper has featured in nearly every game, except for one Carabao Cup fixture, but Arteta has frequently changed the team following significant summer investment on new signings. When asked about competing for multiple trophies, Raya responded, "Yes, I believe so. The depth is amazing. There are numerous options who can perform in two, three, or four roles."

For instance, against Atlético, a teammate was introduced as a striker and is capable of playing as a No 8 or No 10. That versatility is what the boss has, and he's using it to our advantage. It's looking extremely promising, and that depth is very important for us.

Rivalry Drives Performance

Raya added, "This situation gives you an extra level in practice and matches because if you slack off, your place is at risk in a fraction of a second. It creates intense rivalry in training and during matches, which is really, really important, and everyone is on board."

Strong Defense a Collective Effort

The team have let in just a single goal from open play so far, and Raya has had to deal with only one shot on target in their recent victories against three opponents.

"It's a collective effort from the striker to the goalie," he said. "Everyone is focused, determined not to give anything away, and we aim to intercept the ball before it reaches the halfway line. If we intercept, it allows a fast break. It's crucial for everyone to feel this mentality, and we're not allowing numerous opportunities, which is perfect."
